Apparently the actress' grandmother has also had a role to play in her upbringing, which explains as to why the actress is superstitious. Moment of truth

It was reportedly then that Athiya realised that she wanted to become an actress. She apparently broke the news to her parents at the Heathrow airport. Debut in Bollywood with "Hero"

The Times of India

Athiya Shetty is all set to storm Bollywood with her debut film, Hero. The actress has been paired opposite Aditya Pancholi's son, Sooraj Pancholi, in her debut film, which is a remake of Subhash Ghai's hit film by the same name.

Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi are busy promoting their debut film Hero. The fresh onscreen couple is already the talk of the town what with their crackling chemistry in the trailer and songs. In an interview with Pinkvilla.com, Athiya agreed that there is a great chemistry between Sooraj and her. She said that it is so because they are good friends and are so close, that it reflects on screen. She added that the two look good together as a pair.

First film's release to coincide with dad's first film release

Call it destiny or sheer coincidence, Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya's debut film Hero will release on the same day, September 11, this year as her father's debut film Balwaan did 23 years ago. An ecstatic Suniel has been quoted as saying that, "I became a hero, thanks to Balwaan (1992) and now, Athiya's Hero is set to release on the same day. This is crazy. I realised this just a couple of days ago. Athiya was blown away when she heard it. Even Nikhil was surprised and said, 'This is news!'" Much to Suniel's amusement, the decision wasn't preplanned at all. He adds, "Hero's release was pushed from July to September for various reasons, but this wasn't one of them at all. And finally it lands up on this day. Balwaan was successful, though I was written off as an actor. But on the contrary, Athiya and Sooraj have done a great job as actors. They will be appreciated. And this is a proud father moment for me."

Mentors

The Times of India

Superstar Salman Khan, who is launching Athiya Shetty in his home production Hero, prepared her for the challenge by giving her three important rules to succeed in the film industry. "Salman sir has always told me three things: Be humble. Hard work is extremely important. That's what takes you forward in life. People want to work with you because you're hardworking. And never forget the people who brought you to the top, because that's the most important," Athiya said in an interview with IANS. Considering Athiya's young age of 22 years, one would also expect father Sunil Shetty to give her lectures on how to do well in life. "Papa is not the preachy type who would tell me how to act or how not to act. Salman sir is also not that type of person. They've always told me about life and about the industry, how to conduct myself and how to interact with people," she said.

According to Athiya, Shraddha was a drama student, she used to dance and sing. She further reveals that even as kids, everyone knew that Shraddha would be an actor. Shraddha insists that Athiya is also extremely warm. She recalls the time when Krishna, Tiger and she would be doing dance performances together and Shraddha would be choreographing it. Athiya adds that their school is really happy and proud now that they have all gone into Bollywood.
