Lingsugur Taluk
Taluk in Raichur District, Hyderabad State. Including jagirs, the area is 703 square miles, and the population in 1901 was 87,547, compared with 73,063 in 1891. It contains two towns, LiNGSUGUR (population, 5,161) and Mudgal (7,729), the taluk head-quarters ; and 180 villages, of which 86 are jagir. The samasthan of Gurgunta, consisting of 38 villages, with a population of 19,937, is included in this Taluk. The river Kistna enters the State at Opanhal in the west and flows in a north-easterly direction. The land revenue in 1901 was i-6 lakhs.
