Biography

July 28, 2016: Hindustan Times

Acclaimed for his performances in several plays, Marathi films and TV serials, Pol left an indelible mark on the landscape of Marathi theatre. He also contributed backstage as a professional sound recordist.

He was also the founder member of Theatre Academy.

Ghanshiram Kotwal, Tin Paishacha Tamasha and Mahanirvan were among the popular plays that he acted in. Pol also acted in Marathi films such as Samna, Sinhasan, Gadhavache Lagna and Pak Pak Pakak.

Reacting on Pol’s demise, noted playwright, actor and theatre director, Satish Alekar said that Marathi theatre has lost a cheerful and delightful personality.

“Besides acting in plays, films and TV serials, he remained as a stable back stage artist in the form of professional sound recordist and as he had a keen understanding of Hindustani classical music, he used to pick up right kind of music for the right kind of situation,” recalled Alekar.
