=Abadhut=

One who has' shaken off' the infirmities of humanity, the title used among themselves by a sect of Saiva ascetics, whioh is divided into four classes¬Brahma, Saiba, Bhakta, and Ransa or Turiya-of which the first three may be either house¬holders or mendicants, while the fo urth lead a pure ascetic life. Abadhuts are said to be distin¬guished from Dandis by not observing the practice, strictly enjoined by the latter, of shav¬ing the head on the day of new moon.
