Eugeneson Lyngdoh has emerged as one of Indian football's finest talents in recent times but the Shillong born player has hardly burst onto the scene out of nowhere. He began his career at Rangdajied United back in 2006 when they were still called Ar Hima. He spent five years at the club before moving to Shillong Lajong FC where he scored 4 goals in his first 9 appearances and featured regularly over two seasons.

After a brief year-long return to Rangdajied, Bengaluru FC came knocking and it was there that Eugeneson's stock endured a meteoric rise. He was immediately drafted into the first eleven and instantly became a vital cog in the team's engine room. The energetic midfielder was central to the team as they went on to lift the Federation Cup before narrowly failing to defend their I-League crown.

The Bengaluru man is now 28 years old and has ample experience within the Indian circuit. He's come up through hard work and determination which has seen him break into the national side this year. Eugeneson is very much the all-action central midfielder. He shuttles from box-to-box relentlessly, links up with the attack, provides cover in defence and gets on the ball to dictate play.

He has excellent technique and scored 9 goals in 33 appearances for the Blues last season, some of which were exceptional strikes. He's creative as well and has an eye for a pass while always being up for a good hard tackle. Essentially, Eugeneson is the all-round midfielder, the likes of which are hard to come by in Indian football.

He swept both awards at Bengaluru FC for Fans as well as Players' Player of the Year last season. Meanwhile, he was also recognized by the rest of the league as he was named the 2014-15 I-League Midfielder of the Year. At a base price of 27.5 Lakhs, an ISL franchise would be spending wisely on a rare Indian talent.

It's a testament to his form and physical condition that Eugeneson featured in every I-League fixture for Bengaluru last season and in 33 games in total. However, that's the most competitive football he's ever played in a single season. Add the four international games to that tally and there's certainly a risk that the midfielder may be burnt out or at least not at his optimal energy levels.
