=Kakar=<br />
<br />
Taluka of Larkana District, Sind, Bombay, lying between <br />
26 degree 53' and 2 7 degree 14' N. and 67 degree 12' and 67 degree 57' E., with an area of 445 square miles. The population in 1901 was 49,252, compared with <br />
47,888 in 1 89 1. The taluka contains 73 villages, of which Khairpur <br />
Nathan Shah is the head-quarters. The density, 11 1 persons per <br />
square mile, is slightly below the District average. The land revenue <br />
and cesses in 1903-4 amounted to 2.1 lakhs. The taluka depends <br />
for irrigation on the Western Nara Canal, but suffers from its position <br />
at the lower end of the canal, the waters of which are largely exhausted <br />
by the northern talukas. The western portion depends upon rain and <br />
a few hill-torrents for cultivation. Jowar is the principal crop.</div>Pdewan
