 In the past two decades, the population of all states has gone up by several millions and therefore the rate of incidents has dropped significantly , in some cases to less than half their 1992 levels. 		+	New Delhi : Granting relief to a man who was sentenced to life imprisonment along with three others in a murder case, Supreme Court has commuted his sentence to 10-year jail term after holding him guilty of culpable homicide and not murder.

		+	Setting aside orders passed by a trial court and Telangana high court, a bench of Justices BR Gavai and P S Narasimha said, “In fact, both the courts have mechanically drawn an inference against A3 (accused number 3) under section 34 of the Act merely based on his presence near the scene of offence and his familial relations with the other accused.”
