Town in the Raya tahsil  of Sialkot District, Punjab, &lt;br /&gt;
situated in 32° 5' N. and 74° 53' E., on the north bank of the Ravi, &lt;br /&gt;
35 miles south-east of Sialkot town. Population (1901), 4,422. The &lt;br /&gt;
name is derived from its founder Naru, a Bajwa Sansi, who is said to &lt;br /&gt;
have settled here four centuries ago. It was formerly the head-quarters &lt;br /&gt;
of what is now the Raya tahs'il. The chief industry is the manufacture &lt;br /&gt;
of brass vessels, but native shoes of ornamental design are also made. &lt;br /&gt;
The Church Missionary and Zanana Missionary Societies established &lt;br /&gt;
here maintain an Anglo-vernacular middle school and a female hospital &lt;br /&gt;
and dispensary. The town also possesses an aided Punjabi Anglo- &lt;br /&gt;
vernacular middle school. Outside the town is a large church. The &lt;br /&gt;
municipality was created in 1867. The income and expenditure during &lt;br /&gt;
the ten years ending 1902-3 averaged Rs. 4,500. In 1903-4 the &lt;br /&gt;
income was Rs. 5,500, chiefly from octroi; and the expenditure was &lt;br /&gt;
