''<br /> <br /> <br /> Eastern subdivision of Rajshahi District, <br /> Eastern Bengal and Assam, lying between 24° 1' and 24° 48' N. and <br /> 88° 51'' and 89° 21' E., with an area of 816 square miles. The popula- <br /> tion was 422,399 in 1901, compared with 443,511 in 1891, the density <br /> being 518 persons per square mile. It contains one town, Nator <br /> (population, 8,654), the head-quarters; and 1,727 villages. With the <br /> exception of the Lalpur thdna, situated on the Padma, most of this <br /> subdivision is a swampy depression, waterlogged and abounding in <br /> marshes, the largest of which is the great Chalan Bil.</div>
