=Rampur Town =&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Town in the Deoband tahsil of Saharanpur &lt;br /&gt;
District, United Provinces, situated in 29 48' N. and 77 28' E., on &lt;br /&gt;
the old road from Saharanpur to Delhi. Population (1901), 7,945, the &lt;br /&gt;
number of Hindus and Musalmans being about equal. The town is &lt;br /&gt;
said to have been founded by one Raja Ram, and according to &lt;br /&gt;
tradition it was captured by Salar Masud. There is a fine modern &lt;br /&gt;
Jam temple, and also a tomb of a Muhammadan saint, Shaikh Ibrahim, &lt;br /&gt;
near which a religious fair is held in June. The town is administered &lt;br /&gt;
under Act XX of 1856, with an income of about Rs. 2,000. There is &lt;br /&gt;
some trade in gram, and the town is noted for the manufacture of &lt;br /&gt;
