==Can be held if occasional, non-disruptive and subject to govt regulation: SC==
[https://epaper.indiatimes.com/article-share?article=03_05_2026_001_012_cap_TOI May 3, 2026: ''The Times of India'']

Prayagraj : Prayers can be held on private property only if they are occasional and non-disruptive and such activities are not immune to govt regulation if the site is used for regular or organised congregational activities, Allahabad HC has held, dismissing a plea for security to offer namaz on a plot in Sambhal.

While the petitioner claimed ownership of the plot, UP govt said it was meant for public use. Introduction or expansion of a religious practice not previously prevalent, particularly where it disturbs existing social balance, is not protected under Art 25 and 26 (freedom of religion), HC said. It added that even if the land is assumed to be private, the petitioner is not entitled to relief as he “introduced a new religious practice”, after govt said traditionally namaz had been offered at the location only on Eid.
TNN
