"He used to sit in class with his hockey stick always by his side. I remember him as bright and respectful. He secured a first division which was not easy in economics in those days,” recalls the retired professor. ‘Good spirits’ despite injurySavita Kochar, who was head of the physical education department at Hans Raj, recalls the time SRK got hurt on the eye. During a hockey match being played at Delhi’s Khalsa College, SRK was the centre-forward. When he tried to score a goal, the opposing team’s player accidentally hit him near the eye. Kochar rushed with first aid and treated his injury. It was thankfully not a major injury and although their college lost the match, SRK was in “good spirits”.Did she see Chak De! India in which her former student played the role of a coach for the women’s Indian hockey team? “Yes! And I really liked Shah Rukh’s role in that. He was very good with dribbling and running,’’ she says. “Overall, his personality left an impact as he was always cheerful, social, smart and handsome.
