FACILITY STATUS: Construction Suspended

Construction of the Shanawa Uranium Mine began in 2009, and was originally scheduled for completion by June 2014. The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission assessed the projected cost to be PKR$3.3 billion. With an average ore grade assessed at 0.05 percent, in-situ leaching technology will be used for extraction. In February 2011, Pakistan suspended construction at Shanawa due to insufficient funds.
