Swapnil Kusale, born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, in 1994, is a distinguished Indian rifle shooter who has made a significant mark in Indian sports.

His journey into shooting began in 2009 when his father enrolled him in the Maharashtra government's Krida Prabhodini sports program. After a year of intensive physical training, Swapnil chose shooting as his specialization.

This dedication has paid off handsomely. He clinched India's third bronze medal in the 50m Rifle 3-Position competition at the Paris Olympics, 2024 becoming the first Indian to do so. This achievement also solidified Maharashtra's position in Olympic medal tally, following Khashaba Jadhav's bronze in wrestling in 1952.

His determination was evident in Paris, where he recovered from a suboptimal shot of 9.1 to deliver consistent 10+ scores, showcasing his mental resilience and technical precision.

Known for his prowess in prone and kneeling positions, Kusale has overcome challenges in the standing position to achieve his Olympic success. His coach, Deepali Deshpande, an Olympian herself, has been instrumental in his journey. Their long-standing relationship has fostered a deep understanding and trust between the two. Deepali Deshpande, his coach, has been a mentor and a mother figure, guiding him through his career.

A symbol of his journey and the support he has received is the golden ring with Olympic rings, gifted to him by his close friend Akshay Ashtaputre. This ring, which he wore throughout his Olympic journey, served as a source of motivation and a reminder of the bonds that have supported him through his career.
