[edit] 2015: Manpreet Kaur sets new record

Manpreet Kaur lit up the opening day of the 55th National Open Athletics Championships with a spectacular performance at the SAI Eastern Centre national record. The 25-year old from Ambala oozed confidence as she threw the shot put to a distance of 17.96m on her second attempt in the final. In doing so, she rewrote a long-standing national record, set by Harbans Kaur way back in 1997.
