Organisers
Kathmandu Jaycees, established in 1970, organized the first Miss Nepal Beauty Pageant in 1994, under the Chairmanship of the then president of Kathmandu Jaycees Sen. Gopal Sundar Lal Kakshapati and Project Committee Chairman Jc. Rupesh Pradhan.
Till then, Nepal remained unrepresented in the international beauty pageants. In 1995, to give the Miss Nepal pageant a more professional approach, senior members of Kathmandu Jaycees who was involved in organizing first Miss Nepal Pageant established The Hidden Treasure, which now annually organizes Miss Nepal Pageants. Some of the revenue generated from Miss Nepal Pageants has been used in the various community development projects of JCI Kathmandu-Nepal.
Miss Nepal Pageant
Miss Nepal/Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal beauty pageant is an annual event held in Kathmandu, Nepal. This pageant started in 1994. The winner of the event competes in Miss World, 1st runner up competes in Miss Earth and 2nd runner up competes in Miss International pageants respectively.
According to MediaN Miss Nepal Universe also competes for Miss Universe.
The contest does not have a swimsuit round, though many Miss Nepal winners have worn swimsuits when required to do so when representing Nepal abroad. Anita Gurung, Miss Nepal Earth, wrapped a loincloth around her thighs when contestants from other ccountries at Miss Earth 2004 wore bikinis.

She has also done a few movies. And now, she is busy in her own business. More over, she seems very happy in her conjugal life.

2008
Pageant not held due to opposition by the women’s wing of the Maoists who said the pageant degraded women as commodities.
With a Maoist-led government ruling Nepal, it was impossible to hold the pageant after the former rebels allegedly threatened the show’s media partners, the venue authorities and even some of the contestants.
2009
The contest resumes despite Maoist threats
Sudeshna Sarkar/ WorldLatestNews wrote in 2009: When the Maoist government fell in May, the Hidden Treasure, the event management company franchised to hold the pageant, announced the show would be resumed. The Maoists, now in the opposition, said they would oppose it but did not succeed.
The Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal contest, which was sponsored by Indian ayurvedic product manufacturer Dabur was repositioned as the Fem Miss Nepal 2009 pageant in a bid to downplay the role of the Indian company that the Maoists have been pressuring the pageant organisers to replace.
In June 2009, the Dabur India board approved the acquisition of Fem Care Pharma Ltd, mainly known for its bleaching and depilatory products.
Given just about three weeks’ time to organise the event, the Hidden Treasure has downscaled the hoopla to hold the grand finale in the army club instead of the stately Birendra International Convention Centre, where it was held in the past.
At the time it was reported that for the first time a Muslim contestant was shortlisted to take part in the finals. This is not correct because Jharana Bajracharya Rashid had been selected Miss Nepal twelve years before, in 1997.

Sahana Bajracharya was born on 15 August 1986 in Kathmandu, Nepal. She did her education from St. Marys School and college through Weigan and Leigh College.
Sahana Bajracharya was crowned as Miss Nepal 2010 1st Runner Up on 1 September 2010 and later She competed on Miss Earth 2010 on 4 December 2010. Even, before she competed on Miss Nepal beauty pageant she was already a media personality who did TV hosting for shows like Mega Model Season 2, Yugantar and works for Image Channel. In 2008, she competed on Miss Nepal 2008, but later the pageant got cancelled by the female-maoists protest.Sahana has also been hand picked to represent Nepal in the Miss Asia Pacific World 2011 beauty pageant which was held in Korea this October where she placed in the top 15 semi-finalists. She is a perfect example of a modern Nepali woman

Beauty from dharan, malina joshi got the victory of the title in 2011.She has completed MBA and is planning to establish her own business.
Miss Nepal 2011 Malina Joshi went to South Korea to represent Nepal at the Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 pageant. She represented Nepal in Miss World 2011 which was held on 4 November 2011 in London. She was selected to perform Nepalese folk dance in the final day of the competition. She was also on the top-30 for Beauty with a Purpose title, a major award at Miss World.

Anupama Aura Gurung was the first runner-up of Miss Nepal 2011. Anupama represented Nepal at Miss Earth 2011 held in Manila. Anupama, a daughter of a Gorkha army in Singapore, lived there until she turned 21.
