[edit] Career

Her music: contemporary R&B and Soul. Songs like Lianne La Havas' 'Age'

Her band in Shillong: Lavender Groove

The North East Today adds: ‘Since she moved to Bombay, she’s been doing a few duo hugs with [keyboardist] Karan Joseph, a very talented keyboardist based out of Bombay.

‘It was Film producer Ronnie Lahiri, another Shillongite who spotted her talent at a young age … she was a little scared as she didn’t know any Hindi. But since then, she took up Hindi classes and [did] most of her dialogues in Hindi..

Andrea recalls, “When my dad called me and asked if I wanted to act, we both started laughing. He said to give the auditions a try anyway. After the auditions, they called and said I got selected. But, I took it lightly and it only struck me the day I met Amitabh Bachchan. I was a total wreak. But overall, it was a great experience.” The challenging part was speaking in Hindi, says the actor who learnt Hindi on the go during the shooting. “Saying it out loud required a lot of rehearsing. It was natural maybe because I was myself and this film is so realistic I didn’t really need to act. I just needed to feel and react.”

Recalling her first shot with Amitabh Bachchan. Andrea says she was visibly shaking. “I had three words to say. I was so scared. That nervousness actually worked for the shot and we finished it in one take. I gained confidence after that.” (ALLAN MOSES RODRICKS, The Hindu)

‘Andrea is also a model who’s worked with some of the best people in the industry like Daniel Syiem, Eddy Lalrempuia and has been featured in leading magazines like Vogue.’

[edit] Learning Hindi

Her lack of understating Hindi very well did come across as a hindrance initially, especially while she was doing her workshops with her co-star Piyush Mishra, but Taapsee and Kirti were always a help.

"They helped me a lot. I used to ask them 'How do I do this, how do I say this' because there were quite a few dialogues I didn't understand especially when Piyush Mishra was speaking. He speaks so fast I couldn't understand what he was saying," she quipped. (DNA India)/ (FirstPost)
