[edit] CRUISE SHIPPING in India
To promote the growth of Cruise Shipping , an inter-Ministerial Steering Committee with Secretary (Shipping) as Chairman has also been constituted in June, 2010 to address the issues relating to development of cruise shipping. The Steering Committee has identified five ports, namely, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Mangalore and Cochin for development of Cruise tourism. In its second meeting held on 6.6.2011, it has been decided to: i) Include Chairman Mangalore Port Trust as a member of the Steering Committee on cruise tourism. ii) Ministry of Tourism to consider imparting training to the frontline officers coming in direct contract with visitors under the scheme 'capacity building for service providers'. The respective ports to communicate the requirement of such training programmes. iii) Ministry of Tourism to initiate the joint participation of high level delegation consisting of representatives of Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Shipping, Chairman of various ports in the sea trade cruise shipping convention to be held in Singapore, Miami, Dubai and India.
