Hill township in the south-east corner of Mandalay District, Upper Burma, lying between 21 42' and 21 57' N. and 96 15' and 96 32' E., with an aiea of 190 square miles, for the most part rugged and jungle-clad. The population was 4,931 in 1891, and 4,295 m 1901, distributed in 54 villages, Pyintha (population, 235), 28 miles from Mandalay on the Lashio road, being the head-quarters. The thathameda collections m 1903-4 amounted to Rs. 9,000.
