Taluk in Karlmnagar District, Hyderabad State, with an area of 626 square miles, including jagirs. The population in 1901 was 121,518, compared with 134,309 in 1891, the decrease being due to famine and cholera. The taluk contains 158 villages, of which 9 axejdgir; and Jamikunta (population, 2,687) is the head-quarters. The land revenue in 1901 was 4 lakhs. The taluk is hilly towards the west, while isolated hills are seen everywhere. There is hardly any forest, Rice is largely cultivated, being irrigated from tanks.
