[edit] Six Rajasthan forts in Unesco’s World Heritage list

Six hill forts of Rajasthan have been included in Unesco’s World Heritage list.

The International Council in Monuments and Sites, evaluates cultural properties for Unesco. It has inclusion in the Unesco list of:

Amber fort in Jaipur

Chittaurgarh fort in Chittaurgarh district,

Gagron fort in Jhalawar,

Jaisalmer fort in Jaisalmer,

Kumbhalgarh fort in Rajsamand, and

Ranthambhore fort in Sawai Madhopur.

The hill forts are located in the Aravalli mountain range and are excellent examples of Rajput military hill architecture, which are found in palaces, temples, memorials and villages. Built between eighth and 19th centuries, these forts are unique to this region.

UNESCO accepted the state's recommendations and inscribed all 6 forts as World Heritage Sites.
