Madurai The entire city of Madurai is built tory of Tamil culture and art for several thousand years.The temple, in its present form, was built between the years 1623 and 1655, during the reign of Thirumalai Nayak. One of the most important festivals of the temple tis the Meenakshi Thirukalyanam, the divine marriage of Meenakshi (Parvati) and Sundaresan (Shiva).Madurai is located at a distance of 460km south of Chennai and is well connected by rail and road. Daily flights are also available to Madurai from Chennai and major metros. One can even opt for buses to Madurai, which ply frequently throughout the day from Chennai.
