Early Life
Tejas developed an interest in chess at 3.5 years old by watching family members play, quickly grasping the rules. His father, Sharad Tiwari, coaches him, and he practices 2-3 hours daily while studying in UKG at Dikshant International School in Haldwani.timesofindia.indiatimes+2
Chess Career
At age 4, Tejas competed in district, state, and national events, including his first FIDE-rated rapid tournament at 4 years and 3 months. He participated in FIDE-rated events across 13 Indian states and represented Uttarakhand in five national championships. In July 2023, at the Late Dhiraj Singh Raghuvanshi Open FIDE Rated Tournament in Rudrapur, he scored 4 draws and 2 wins to earn his rating.chessforstudents+3
Achievements
Tejas won the Under-8 category at the 2022 Uttarakhand State Open and the Under-5 category at the National School Championship in Bhubaneswar. FIDE recognized him as the youngest rated player globally in July 2023, though Anish Sarkar later surpassed this at age 3 in 2024.
