Saif Ali Khan: Lesser Known Facts
Son of cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan and Sharmila Tagore, Saif made his debut with Yash Chopra's 'Parampara' but success came to him two years later. In 1994, two of his films emerged as the most successful films of the year - Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Yeh Dillagi. In both the movies he shared screen space with Akshay Kumar. With films like 'Omkara', 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Parineeta', Saif has proved his acting brilliance.
Saif got success two years after he ventured into the industry. His first box office success was 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' where he was seen with Akshay Kumar. Akshay and Saif's pair became very popular and soon directors started casting them together. Their pair emerged as the most bankable pair of the decade. Films like - Aarzoo, Keemat etc only stregthened their position in the society.
Saif's most popular and loved role was in Dil Chahta Hai. He played a laidback guy named Sameer who desperately wanted to be in a relationship. The film bagged him many awards. But very few know that Saif had initially rejected this role. It was only after Dimple Kapadia persuaded him, did he agree to play the part. What is even more shocking is, as per a report in IMDB, Shiney Ahuja was initially considered for this role.
The film which became a landmark in his career was Parineeta. Saif impressed critics and fans with his brillaint act. But here again Saif was not the first choice to play the part. As per a report in IMDB, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was not to keen on signing him as the lead actor. He thought Saif would not be able to pull off this character. But as time went by, Chopra realised that Saif was indeed the best choice for the role of Shekhar.
Another role which will remains his most remarkable one ever was of Langda Tyagi in 'Omkara'. Saif even bagged the 'Best Villain' award for his dark yet splendid performance in the movie. Bollywood's Mr perfectionist, Aamir Khan was keen to play the role of Langda Tyagi but it was Saif who finally bagged the role. As per a report in IMDB, Vishal Bharadwaj had asked Saif to shoot for a particular sequence from the movie naked. To which Saif had replied, "I will shoot naked only if you agree to direct it naked."
Kal Ho Na Ho was another movie where Saif's performance was widely appreciated. But yet again he was not the first choice of the director. It was only after Abhishek Bachchan declined the role that it went to Saif. A media report also suggests that even Vivek was considered for his role. Saif swept away most of the awards that year for the Best Supporting Role category.
Saif Ali Khan married Bollywood actress Amrita Singh when he was very young. The couple tied the knot secretly as Amrita was older to him. He has two children with Amrita - a daughter named Sara and a son named Ibrahim. After his separation with Amrita after 12 years of marriage, Saif continued to be in and out of relationships. At one point out time he was also very close to Italian model Roza Catalano. However, like many long distance relationships this one too did not last long.
And then entered Kareena Kapoor. After her infamous break up Shahid Kapoor, Kareena was nursing a broken heart. It was during the shoot of Tashan that sparks flew between Saif and Kareena. After quite a few years of a live in relationship the couple finally tied the knot on Oct 16, 2012. Saif inherited the title of Nawab after his father passed away. Hence Kareena too is now the Begum of Pataudi.

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's love story
From a thirteen year long marriage to Amrita Singh, a short term affair with Swiss model Rosa and a dream wedding with the hottest Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, Saif is undoubtedly one of the most romantic persons from the film fraternity. While his 'affair' with Kareena is one of the worst kept secrets ever, very little is known when it comes to his love story with Amrita Singh.
In a candid chat with Simi Garewal on her chat show years ago, Saif and Amrita (Saif's first wife and former actress) had once spilled the beans on their steaming first date too. Saif and Amrita met for the first time on the sets of Rahul Rawail's film which starred Saif and Kajol in lead roles. While Amrita was completely oblivious to the fact that she had made Saif skip a beat, Saif immediately felt some sort of instant connection to the actress. After a couple of days, Saif called up Amrita asking if she would like to go out with him for dinner, where Amrita sternly refused saying, "I don't go out for dinners." But before Saif could digest her refusal she came up with another line, "I don't go out for dinners but you can come over to my place for dinner."
Saif's joy knew no bounds and he reached her place on time. Saif always felt that though Amrita portrayed a very firm exterior, on the inside she was a really wonderful person. The dinner ranged from professional to personal conversation and though Saif stressed on the fact that he only had one idea in mind and that was to 'have a nice time with a very nice person'. But somehow towards the end of the night, they ended up kissing each other. Not only that, Saif even professed his feelings towards her the very same night and Amrita gladly reciprocated. As Saif likes to put it, 'he never left her house after that'.
Amrita even confessed in her interview that she instantly grew extremely fond of Saif and used to be perturbed even at the thought of losing him. Soon after this steamy encounter Saif and Amrita tied the knot. Their marriage lasted for almost 13 years after which the couple decided to part ways. Together they are proud parents of daughter Sara Ali Khan and son Ibrahim. Saif tied the knot with Kareena Kapoor in 2012.
What came as a pleasant surprise at Saif and Kareena's wedding was the presence of Sara and Ibrahim. While Sara and Ibrahim stay with their mother Amrita Singh, they share a very friendly equation with Kareena. On a chat show Kareena spoke about her equation with Sara and Ibrahim. "It's pretty amazing, they have a wonderful mother. They are the most well brought up children. I always remember Sara standing up and doing adab. Both Sara and Ibrahim are like that. I am like a friend for them. At times me and Sara chat over a glass of champagne. That's the way Saif wanted and that's the way I wanted it," she said.
