Tando Alahyar Taluka

Taluka in Hyderabad District, Sind, Bombay, lying between 25° 7' and 25° 49' N. and 68° 35' and 69° 2' E., with an area of 690 square miles. The population in 1901 was 87,990, compared with 76,385 in 1891. The density, 128 persons per square mile, exceeds the District average. There are 3 towns — Tando Alahyar (population, 4,324), the head-quarters, Tando Adam (8,664), and Nasarpur (4,511); and 107 villages. The land revenue and cesses in 1903-4 amounted to nearly 3/2 lakhs. The tdluka con- sists of a high plateau, of irregular oblong shape, with wide sandy spaces in the east. The chief crops are bdjra, sesamum, and tobacco.
