100m Backstroke Senior Men

2016: Madhu Ps (SSCB) set a new national record with a time 00:57.95, re-writing his own National Record of 00:57.95 set in 2014 in the event 100m Backstroke Senior Men.

200m backstroke, men

2016: The most exciting national record came in the men 200m backstroke. Services' Madhu PS (who had scripted a national record a few Days before), took the lead in the first 50m.But by the end of the first 100m, he had conceded the lead to Karnataka's Arvind Mani who maintained his lead and won in a time of 2:05.56, thereby breaking the record mark set by Rohit Havaldar in 2013.

200m breaststroke, women

2016: All three medal winners of the women's 200m breaststroke bettered the national mark at the 70th Senior National Aquatic Championships. Karnataka's Saloni Dalal, who was the first to stop the clock at 2:44.37 seconds, broke the 19-year-old national record of 2:46.39 seconds set by Sajani Shetty .

The 13-year-old also smashed the meet record of 2:46.49sec set by Tejaswini V in 2006 en route the gold. Bengal's Sayani Ghosh with a timing of 2:45.09sec and Karnataka's Harshita Jayaram 2:45.48sec settled for silver and bronze medal, respectively . The efforts from both the swimmers was better than the then existing national record.

100m butterfly, men

2016: Sajan Prakash, The Railways contender swam to a national record when he won the gold in a closely-contested 100m butterfly with a timing of 54.43 seconds.

200m Butterfly, Men

2016: Olympian Sajan Prakash created a New National Record of 1:59.35 in the event of 200m Butterfly, Men, re-writing the National Record of Aaron D'Souza (2:00.90) set in 2013.

200m freestyle, women

2016: Rio Olympian Shivani Kataria swam the 200m freestyle in 2:06.97 seconds to break the record set by Richa Mishra in 2011.

4x100m Freestyle Medley, Men

2016: Team R.S.P.B created a National Record on Day 2 in the event of 4x100m Freestyle Medley, Men with a timing of 03:48.95.

4x50m medley, mixed

2016: The Gujarat men and women showed a lot of character in winning the 4x50m medley with a timing of 1:53.42.
