Lakar-Hara/ Lakri-Walah

The men engaged in this trade are usually Kuti Muhammadans, who advance money to woodcutters, generally Chandals, for the supply of firewood, which is brought into Dacca from the jungles of Bhowal. Timber dealers, or Mahajans, are quite distinct, being traders who engage men to proceed to the Morang, or Tarai, for logs of wood, and on its arrival sell it to carpenters and boat builders.
