Ballalrayandurga
Fortified hill in the Western Ghats, situated in 13 8' N. and 75 25' E., in the south-west of Kadur District, Mysore ; 4,940 feet above the sea. It was a stronghold of the Hoysala kings in the twelfth century. Hither the queen of Bednur fled for refuge when her capital was taken by Haidar All in 1763, and here she was captured and sent as a prisoner to Maddagiridurga.
