Village in the Ponnani taluk of Malabar District, Madras, situated in 10° 53' N. and 75° 56' E. Population (1901), 4,444. It is a railway station and an important point on the canals of the District. Not far off is the village of Betat Pudiyangadi, which is the head- quarters of a sub-magistrate and a District Munsif. Their courts were built from the materials of the palace of the Betatnad Rajas destroyed by Tipu Sultan in 1784.
