Indapur Town

Head-quarters of the taluka of the same name in Poona District, Bombay, situated in 18° 7' N. and 75° 2' E., 84 miles south-east of Poona city. Population (1901), 5,533- A weekly market and a fair, attended by Muhammadans, is held annually in November. The municipality, established in 1865, had an average income during the decade ending 1901 of Rs. 3,900. In 1903-4 the income was Rs. 3,900. The town has a dispensary, established in 1870, and is celebrated for the manufacture of coarse cotton cloth. There are two schools, one for boys with 216 pupils, and one for girls with 36.
