Jellasore
Village in the head-quarters subdivision of Balasore District, Bengal, situated in 21degree 49' N. and 87 degree13' E., on the left bank of the Subarnarekha, 12 miles from its mouth. It lies on the Calcutta high road, and is also a station (Jellasore) on the Bengal-Nagpur Railway. It was formerly the capital of a Muham- madan sarkdr comprising the present District of Midnapore. During the eighteenth century the East India Company had a factory here.
