Jhalida

Town in the head-quarters subdivision of Manbhum District, Bengal, situated in 23 degree 22' N. and 85 degree 59' E. Population (1901), 4,877. Jhalida was constituted a municipality in 1888. The income and expenditure during the decade ending 190 1-2 averaged , Rs. 3,000. In 1903-4 the income was Rs. 3,700, mainly from a tax on persons (or property tax) ; and the expenditure was Rs. 3,400. Jhalida is a centre of the lac and cutlery industries.
