Khem Karan, 1908

Town in the Kasur tahsil of Lahore District, Punjab, situated in 31° 9' N. and 74 degree 34' E., 7 miles from Kasur town, on the North- Western Railway. Population (1901), 6,083. The Kasur branch of the Bari Doab Canal flows near the town, and the population, which is mainly agricultural, is welbto-do. The municipality was created in 1867. The income during the ten years ending 1902-3 averaged Rs. 5,200, and the expenditure Rs. 4,800. In 1903-4 the income was Rs. 5,700, chiefly derived from octroi; and the expenditure was Rs. 6,200. The town has a vernacular middle school, maintained by the municipality.
