A small Dravidian tribe of Palamau, des¬cribed briefly by Colonel Dalton and at greater length by Mr. L. R. Forbes in his report on the settlement of Palamau. Their sections are totemistic. Colonel Dalton speaks of them as 'the mere remnant of a tribe who, according to their own traditions in this district and the traditions of other races (Lohardaga), once formed an important section of the population.' They worship Dharti Mai, the earth goddess, and Gohet.
