Head-quarters of the Pattanapuram taluk in Travancore State, Madras, situated in 9degree 1' N. and 76degree 59' E. Population (1901), 2,826. It is a station on the Tinnevelly-Quilon Railway, and the neighbouring forests yield excellent fibre which is made into paper.
