Taluk in Raichur District, Hyderabad State, with an area of 621 square miles, including jagirs. The population in 1901 was 65,434, compared with 49,776 in 1891. The taluk contains one town, SINDHNUR (population, 5,242), the head-quarters; and 126 villages, of which 61 are jdgir. It is separated on the south-east from the Madras District of Bellary by the Tungabhadra river. The land revenue in 1901 amounted to 2.5 lakhs.
