Sirsa Town (2)

Town in the Meja tahsil of Allahabad Dis- trict, United Provinces, situated in 25° 16' N. and 82° 6' E., on the East Indian Railway. Population (1901), 4,159. Sirsa is administered under Act XX of 1856, with an income of about Rs. 1,000. It is the most important mart in the District outside Allahabad city. The trade is chiefly concerned with the export of grain and oilseeds to Bengal and Calcutta. A middle school has 88 pupils.
