Subankhata
Village in the Gauhati subdivision of Kamrup District, Eastern Bengal and Assam, situated in 26° 47' N. and 91° 25" E. A fair is held here in the cold season, which is largely attended by the Bhotias, who bring down ponies, blankets, wax, and lac for sale, and purchase cotton cloth and other articles. A detach- ment of military police, consisting of 31 officers and men, is stationed at Subankhata during the cold season.
