Suchindram
Village and shrine in the Agastiswaram taluk of Travancore State, Madras, situated in 8° 9' N. and 77° 27' E., 8 miles north-west of Cape Comorin on the high road to Trivandrum. Population (1901), 2,470. In the centre of the village is the famous shrine of Sthanumalaya Perumal, a Saivite manifestation of the Hindu Triad, which is accorded the first rank among State shrines by the Travancore government, and is visited by thousands of worshippers during the annual car festival.
