Taloda Town

Head-quarters of the Taloda taluka of West Khan- desh District, Bombay, situated in 21° 34' N. and 74° 13' E., 62 miles northwest of Dhulia.population (1901), 6,592. Taloda is the chief limber market of Khandesh, and has also a considerable trade in rosha grass (Andropogon schoenanthus), oil, and grain. The best wooden carts of Khandesh are manufactured here, costing about Rs. 40 each. The town, which was constituted a municipality in 1867, had an average income during the decade ending 1901 of Rs. 5,000. In 1903-4 the income was Rs. 5,400. The town contains a dispensary, and a boys' school with 180 pupils.
