Zamindari tahsil, forming a portion of the Siva- ganga Estate, in the Ramnad subdivision of Madura District, Madras. The population in 1901 was 29,261, compared with 29,878 in 1891. It contains 66 villages, the chief of which is Tiruppuvanam, a station on the South Indian Railway and the head-quarters. The iahsil lies along the bank of the Vaigai river, which supplies many of its irriga- tion tanks. The soil is mainly alluvial.
